German A. Lange & Sohne A. Lange & Sohne was established with the aid of the German government at Glasshutte, Germany in 1845. Lange typically produced 3/4-plate lever watches in gilt finish for the domestic market, and in nickel for export market. High grade and very practical, these watches had a banking system for the pallet that was later used briefly by E. Howard in America. Lange complicated watches are scarce and very desirable. On May 8, 1945 Russian bombers destroyed workshops. All A. Lange & Sohne must be triple signed (Dial, Case, Movement) to bring top prices. A. Lange & Sohne  Production Totals
